The GV Roll in: Run for the River

From the eye of Lee Bender, this was the meeting spot for the losers leaving the bay in route to Grass Valley.

This was the man with the plan, and the route. Shrewgs planned the ride from Fell Street all the way to Grass Valley with gas stops and food all pre-planned out.

Piss stop..

After hours of riding in the heat we finally made it to the roll in around 4pm… and it was hot as hell…

After being at the Roll In for even just a few minutes people already started talking about swimming. I knew about this river spot off of 49 and it was a hit. I’m not taking credit for it… I just knew the spot everyone was talking about…

I come from down in the valley
where mister when you’re young
They bring you up to do like your daddy done
Me and Mary we met in high school
when she was just seventeen
We’d ride out of this valley down to where the fields were green

We’d go down to the river
And into the river we’d dive
Oh down to the river we’d ride …

I can’t swim. It’s just something that was overlooked in my youth and I never worked out in my old age. I can float and doggy paddle but both are sad and pathetic to watch…

Then after hours of river time we made it to camp. and Johnny some how came up on a 3 foot piece of Jerky?

We ended up camping in this chicks yard that was the planned after party for the Roll In. It worked out pretty sweet. tons of room and the people that wanted to party could, and the rest of us old folk that wanted to pass out could… in peace.

The next day I awake to Bender just saying… “Swimmin…. swimmin…” sooo, we went back to the river to swim more! It was still hot as death so no one was against the idea. After the river Me Sandy and Mike all rolled to Marysville to meet up with Lisa and Jeff! We went out to dinner at The Silver Dollar Diner. It was a perfect cap to a great weekend.
