Just as at any print shop sometimes things start to get a little weird. This was a simple photo shoot to send to Cruz to show them a side placement, that turned into Stepdad dry humping Little Man as he enjoys a smoke. If you know Stepdad of course this isn’t weird at all.. but we were outside the old compound as people were just walking and driving by with all eyes on us. We were just 3 weird white guys taking photos against a brick wall… kinda homo. It was a fun day of printing tho.

New Screen Shelves!

I scored these 8′ tall cases on craigslist out of the free section! So hyped. I was searching for free lumber and came across these, then realized they were like a quarter of a mile from the warehouse!! I booked it over there in Stepdad’s van and snatched um up! They fit 20″x24″ screens perfect! I know I shouldn’t be so stoked on shelves… but sorry dudes, I am!

Oh, an yes, I do still have a Mac G4 tower from 1999. I use it mostly as additional hard drive space and an itunes player. Plus yes, I am attached to it. I’ve had is for so long that I don’t think I can bring myself to get rid of it. And yes, I am a hoarder… I know…

Mind Spring Art Show

Last night I went to the opening of Chuck and Ron’s new show. I met Ron only a few weeks after moving to SF. He would kick it at the Parkside all the time because those guys did posters for the shows. I recently ran into Ol’ Flip-flop Ron in Oakland and we both realized we now live right next to each other. Ron and Chuck own a screen printing shop called the Firehouse (rock art poster company). The show is all fine art pieces, far from rock posters, but all really rad. If you’re in the area of downtown SF, you should check out the show.

The New Warehouse!

The Key Master:
Dec. 23rd, 2011 was the day I got the keys!

Going budge:
To be able to move everything out of our store location (including Plaid Again printing) I rented a 24′ box truck as well as 3 loads with my pick-up, 1 load with stepdad’s van, and 1 load with Block’s car.

Filled it to the gills:
This was the view as I rolled up the door after getting the first load to the new warehouse.

D-Day:
The day we started moving in. We spent the next 3 days driving back to Sac and coming back to San Leandro with more stuff. We needed to have everything out of the Sac location so it all came to Plaid Again’s new spot. Cruz display cases, grid wall, 200 gallons of ink, around 90 screens, ass loads of lumber, etc…

Now this is happening:
I’ve been building, unpacking, assembling, everything I can think of to get Plaid Again set back up and ready to start running jobs off the press. Its been exciting getting to set the shop up just how I’d like. I learned so much from working at other print shops and even more since going out on my own of what works best for me (in the print shop I mean). Things are coming along and it looks like I’ll be able to run my first job off the press at the new location in just a few days.

I’ll do my best to keep the progress updates posted here. I don’t have internet at the new spot yet so it just takes me getting motivated to post stuff after I get back to my apartment. but you know me… I like to blog about it…

Pork loves the Holidays…

This is where I’ll be moving Plaid Again to. Its a 2000 Sq. ft. warehouse in San Leandro, CA. Its just south of Oakland, and only 14 miles from our apartment! I will soon live close enough to Plaid that I can be there 5 days a week! It may sound weird that I’m excited to be able to work there more but I am. More news will be posted as it comes in about the shop move.
